What is a submissive wife biblically?

A submissive wife is a woman rooted in Christ

She falls to the feet of Jesus every day, submitting her requests to the Lord — no matter what she is facing, even in times that are unbearable, unfair, and confusing. A biblical wife first learns to submit to her Lord and Savior before she can learn to submit to her husband in a biblical way.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” – Proverbs 3:5–6

See, a woman that learns to submit to the Lord truly finds a love that her heart longs for — a desire that no human or man on earth can match. We often come into a marriage with so much pain from the past and pain that has happened in the marriage, but the reason why this affects us so deeply is because we do not have that intimate relationship with the Lord on a deeper level. A relationship with the Father that says, no matter what this looks like, I trust You, Father. A relationship that falls to His feet and surrenders all the pain you have been carrying. The Lord wants to set you free. He wants to show you how much love He has for you. The Lord wants to teach you true submissiveness and surrender. THE LORD IS FOR YOU!

“God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.” – Psalm 46:5

Now I am not disregarding the pain or struggles you face in your marriage or in your life — but I am here to tell you from my own testimony with my life and marriage that GOD’S WAY IS THE ONLY WAY! The Lord wants you to stop expecting your husband to be able to heal what is broken. Jesus died on the cross to take these broken pieces of your heart and repair them, and to show you how to keep your heart rooted in Him so when trials come your way, you are able to withstand the enemy and his attacks. Remember, we do not wrestle against flesh and blood.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” – Psalm 34:18

We have to believe the Word of God when it comes to our marriage and our lives. If God is for you, who can be against you? Is our God not a big God? ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE THROUGH CHRIST! Your husband can be saved, your husband can lead you and your home, your husband can become evenly yoked with you — but it’s going to take someone laying down the pain, pride, and worry.

“Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you;
He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.” – Psalm 55:22

I had to be the one to hit my knees and give it to God. I spent many moments with the Lord upset, saying this is unfair, I don’t want to do this… X, Y, and Z — y’all, I was going through it. But in those moments I found comfort in the Lord, in those moments I started trusting the Father, in those moments the Lord became my strength, and in those moments I learned how to humble myself in humility. I learned how to submit everything to the Father!

"I will say of the LORD, 'He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.'" -Psalm 9:9-10

Being a submissive wife does not make you weak — it makes you POWERFUL! Don’t let the enemy take your marriage. Don’t let him take your position in your household. God made you a mighty woman of God. He knew what He was doing when He gave men a wife to be a helper — we just need to trust in the Lord, stand on the Word of God, and take back all the enemy has taken from us! It time to surrender, forgive and be restored.

“Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.” – 1 Peter 3:4
